Saber is a typical energetic 3 year old Husky who was playing with his stuffed toy. To the owners amazement Saber swallowed the entire toy without chewing.

Neville is a 5 month old German Shepherd mix breed puppy with a real zest for life! He presented to our hospital months ago for his puppy boosters and was reportedly scratching himself for what seemed to his parents to be an excessive amount of time.

Lumps are quite common on dogs as they get older. Some larger lumps or lumps under the skin and may need a biopsy or fine needle aspiration to rule out a serious cancerous growth.

Lena is approximately a 3 year old female, spayed, calico cat. Her new owner had brought her in within three days of adopting her, because she felt a mass in her abdomen. The mass was confirmed as abnormal on general physical exam and we decided to take an x-ray to find out more.

Miche, is a 3 year old Seal Point Himalayan. Shortly after adoption from a humane society, Miche started to sneeze and sound congested. She became less active and stopped eating.

This is a great picture of Zar who is a 9 year old male Boxer who has had some VERY bad breath and even difficulty chewing at times. The photo below shows what his mouth looked like when we saw him.

Zoie is an 11 ½ year old Dalmation. In April of 2010 Zoie came in for her annual physical examination and routine vaccinations and was found to have a heart murmer. Since Zoie came in every year for her annual vaccines, we recognized that this was a new finding for Zoie.

Moses is a 8 year old Labrador Retriever who was slowly gaining weight for almost a year. Moses actually started appearing like a pregant dog before seeing us which is hard to do for male dog. He also started to become quite lethargic and he stopped eating.

Isis is a 2yr old female boxer. Recently due to some sudden anxiety, Isis began chewing objects at home. Unfortunately, one of these objects was an electrical socket. Isis’s owner heard a fair amount of noise and ran downstairs to find her still attached to the plug.

Duke is a high energy 3 year old labrador retriever who had surgery at the Veterinary Emergency Clinic referral center in Toronto for an instability in his right hind tarsus (hock).

Jack was found as a stray kitten at about 6 weeks of age. He was brought to our hospital by good Samaritans who agreed to give him the care that he needed. He had pus caked to his nostrils indicating an upper respiratory tract infection and pus covering his eyes.

Scout has had a long productive career as a Niagara Regional Police Service Dog since he became a part of the department in 2001 as a young adolescent 1 year old German Shepherd.

Diesel is a 6 year old Chocolate Labrador Retriever who presented to us for vomiting a latex glove 4 days ago and has been vomiting and not eating since. On physical examination he was bright and alert and otherwise normal.

Dusty was just like any other playful and energetic 6 month old male Cockapoo except for one difference. Usually by 6 to 8 weeks of age, the testicles of male puppies would have descended into their normal location inside the scrotum.

Pico is a 12 year old, male neutered, Miniature Schnauzer. Pico began to have episodes of weakness and collapse that seemed to worsen over a period of 2 weeks. Although he would recover quickly after an episode of collapse, his owner felt Pico should be examined.

Riley and Ginger are two Springer Spaniels that presented to us in June of 2009 for extreme pruritis (itching) and hair loss that had been going on for approximately 7 months. The owners had tried food diet trials and corticosteroids but nothing had worked.

Murphy is a 10 year old male Himalayan cat who presented to us with a history of not eating for a few days. He was also vomiting and the owners noticed blood in the vomit at times. Murphy was admitted for bloodwork and abdominal radiographs (x-rays) to try and track down the cause of his illness.

Sam is 4 year old mixed breed dog who came to see us for the first time in the summer of 2008. He had never had any health issues in the past and prior to this issue loved walking, swimming, and spending time.

Whenever anyone brings their beautiful energetic new puppy home for the first time, they never imagine that one day their puppy could grow into an obese overweight dog. Owners never do this intentionally, however there are numerous reasons why dogs and cats become overweight.

Scimpi is an elderly female Shih Tzu who came in very lethargic and not eating. She wasn’t spayed and the owner noticed some discharge from her vulva area for a few weeks. On examination her abdomen appeared distended on palpation and she had a mild fever.

This is an interesting case but unfortunately true. Tiddy Tat was referred to us from a veterinary clinic in Welland. Tiddy Tat is a very cute 1 and 1/2 year old female cat that was a stray for almost a year before her compassionate owner was able to adopt her once she lost her fear of people.
